How to build a website quick and easy – a newbie’s guide to getting a website up and running in 30 seconds for free (video proof)

how to build a website quick and easy

Is this yet another online scam? Or is this something with endless upsells that will plague me forever?

These were the thoughts that went through my mind when I first came across the SiteBuilder platform at Wealthy Affiliates which promised I could build a website in minutes for FREE.

This was especially hard to believe as I had just listened to a free webinar promising a solution which made it quick and easy for newbies to build a website but my heart sank as I learnt that I would have to fork out over almost $3,000 for this product (ouch!).

I left the webinar dejected and upset. I was so ready to start an online business but just didn’t know where in the world someone with no technical or coding knowledge would get started with building a website. I just didn’t have that $3,000 lying around for the quick and easy solution and was reluctant to go into debt. I thought surely there had to be a better way!

Then through my lucky stars (i.e. Google), I came across the SiteBuilder platform at Wealthy Affiliate and now that I’ve tried it for myself i can tell you that it is for real.

Even for a noob like me who has ZERO technical or coding experience like me you can get a fully operational WordPress website up and running in minutes! And my favourite part was that I didn’t have to pay anything for it (if you are a bootstrapped newbie like I was).

Easy Peasy 5 Step Process to get your Free Website up

Step 1: Access Site Builder

To access the SiteBuilder and EVERYTHING related to your website, you will simply click the light blue “SiteRubix” button in the main menu (on your top left hand side), then click SiteBuilder.

This is the most simplistic, yet advanced Site Builder in the industry to get a fully operational, profit ready WordPress website up and running online.

Step 2: Choose the Kind of Website you want

There are  TWO options here, on a FREE website or on your OWN domain.

Eventually its good to have your own domain but that can be done later. Down the track, you can register your own domain name within Wealthy Affiliate (this does cost extra, either $13.99 or $15.99 depending on the name).

As a Starter member, you will be building a website on the domain. You can build and host up to 2 FREE websites.

This is more than enough for a start. If you decide you want to get serious and start your own online business, then I would suggest upgrading to premium where you can build and host up to 25 free websites and the ability to create 25 sites on your own domains (total 50 websites).

Since we are going with the FREE option, please click on “On a free domain”.

Note: You can easily transfer all your website content from a free website to a registered domain (one you own) using a one click MOVE feature. I note this is a premium only feature but just go with the free option for now, this is more than sufficient when you are just getting started.

Step 3: Choose a Domain

This is what you want your website to be called. It is useful to choose a name that is related to what the website will be about. This is where you choose your brand, your name will represent what you are about.

For example, if you want to start a website all about your passion, affiliate marketing and want to brand yourself as the “real deal” as there are lots of scams out there, you might choose the name ‘realdealaffiliate”.

When you type in your domain, it will let you know if it is available or not.

If your preferred option is not available, simply do another search until you find a domain name that resonates with you. Perhaps change one of the words or add in additional words like “iamarealdealaffiliate” for example if “realdealaffiliate” is taken.

I note you cannot have spaces in your domain name, so your domain name can be “realdealaffiliate” but not “real deal affiliate”.

Have a go below and see if your domain name is available. Just enter a name in the box “enter a name for your free website” and click “build it now”.

Step 4: Choose a Website Name

The name of your website should match your domain, but it just needs to be grammatically correct (i.e. with proper spacing). For example:

Title: Real Deal Affiliate

Don’t overthink this step, just keep your title the same as your domain name. Remember simple is good. It is your content on the site that matters, so don’t waste your time on this step. Move on quickly.

Step 5: Choose a Design

The last step is to choose the “look” for your theme.

As a Starter member you will have access to 12 quality design templates. These are referred to as “Themes”.

Scroll through an choose a design that you like.

Click on the design you like, and then click on the green button “Click here to build this site!”. And THAT’s IT! You now have a real professional looking fully functional WordPress website online!
