The circle of profit review – what you need to know

The Quick Low-Down

Name: Circle of Profits

Creator: Anik Singal

Website url: http://circleofprofit.com

Price: FREE but the profit academy membership sells is a $2,997 (one-time fee) or $3,188 (if made in 4 payments).

Overall Rating: 60/100

Summary:

Pros

  • It’s free (for a limited time, if not its $1.99 on kindle usually which is a good price for what you get)
  • I actually LOVED the book – exciting and engaging content (being a sanguine, Anik spoke my language of upbeat excitement which hooked me right in)
  • Great introduction to affiliate and email marketing. Perfect level for beginners or for those who want a high-level refresher.
  • Easy to understand and teaches you the basics of how an email marketing funnel works.

Cons

  • The book covers just the basics and does not have any actionable information. To get the next steps you need to join Anik’s Profit Academy which will set you back $2,997 at least.
  • Anik’s negative reputation in some internet marketing circles for creating products that fizzle out, then repackaging them and reselling them again (but I must admit he is a damn good sales man!)
  • Marked the overall score down because of the expensive membership fee required to learn how to apply the book. There are other more cost effective courses on the market.

Anik is a great sales man and can be hypnotically persuasive

Anik Singal is great at selling. If you have attended any of his webinars you will know what I mean.

I admire his ability to create and maintain a high level of engagement and hype during a webinar. It’s actually fun! And man can he sell!

After almost an hour of hyping the crowd up, he had me on the edge of my seat. Just how is it possible to get a website up and running within 16 minutes! I was like WOW! Show me more!

Note: I found that that actually you can get a website up and running in 30 seconds for FREE, click here to find out more.

He knows just what to say to get you to agree with each statement he makes.

I was like YES Anik, Yes Anik and then got hit with whatttt it will cost THREE THOUSAND?

And what did I do?

I actually reached for my credit card when my husband who was sitting next to me gently asked, oh what are you buying?

This simple question jolted me back into reality. Wait a minute. Let me think about this. This is a BIG investment, much more than my vacuum cleaner that I researched on before purchasing.

Let me find out what I’m getting into first.

Note: The Profit Academy has been open for a while, and get relaunched despite Anik saying its closing soon and spots are filling up fast. That’s called the scarcity concept which is a marketing tactic to drive people to action quickly without doing full research).

So here are the results of my research.

The Full Low-Down

What does the book actually cover?

This book outlines the basics of affiliate marketing and email marketing.

It also gives you the run-down of how an email marketing funnel works:

  • Build a landing/squeeze page – the page visitors “land on”
  • Offer an incentive to opt-in – the free ebook or free report that people want and give you their email address in order to get
  • Send some affiliate offers to earn commissions – now that you have their email address, send them emails to sell their affiliate offers, they buy from you and this leads to $$$$$$$$$$$.

My big question at the end of this was, how do you even get traffic?

A landing/squeeze page is all well and good but without traffic it’s like building a beautiful shop on a street in a deserted town. If no one turns up to your shop, you will sell nothing.

Spoiler alert – to get traffic you either have to create quality content, which takes time and or you will have to buy traffic. If you are not experience with pay per click (PPC) advertising, then you will burn through A LOT of money very quickly in an effort to get traffic (which might not convert to sales if you don’t know what you are doing).

I’m sure you will learn along the way but it is a very expensive way to learn on top of the membership fees you are already paying. So make sure you budget this in if you are considering joining the Profit Academy. There are also other running costs to this business model but I won’t go into it here.

My Red Flags

After my extensive research on the Profit Academy and Anik here were a few red flags that put me off joining:

Inadequate support to succeed

I was concerned that Anik was only offering 90 days of support, especially since you are paying nearly $3,000 for membership.

Chances are, after 90 days, you will still have questions and need support. Then what? You will then need to dig into your wallet again for Anik’s private coaching course (ouch says your wallet).

Brand new unproven Community

It is difficult to know what the other members are like and if they are a friendly and helpful bunch who will provide you with the encouragement and guidance along the way without actually meeting them.

If you are looking to move into a place, you would want to meet the other people who lived there. If you are looking for a new job, you want to know what kind of people you will be working with.

Anik said access to this community is worth thousands of dollars. I was unable to verify this claim.

There are many communities that offer a free membership option or $1 trial access to help you decide if it’s worth the cost but there is no such option here.

Just so DARN expensive

It’s just a lotof money. I don’t know about you but with a mortgage, average day job and a family we weren’t made of money. $3,000 was our savings towards a next holiday, it was a big deal.

In addition, after I found something similar for $300 and a free option to try, I had to try that option first.

Anik’s Online Reputation

Anik has been around for a while and it appears that he repackages his older membership programs and then re-launches them while teaching similar marketing concepts.

Some of these older memberships go by the following names:

  • Inbox Blueprint (recently relaunched)
  • Future of Wealth
  • Income Kickstart
  • Lethal Commission
  • IMTarget

Personally, this didn’t sit well with me. I just found it hard to trust a membership that keeps getting repackaged and sold. It makes me think once I invest in this membership, will I’d be left with outdated content and the crumbs while the next wave of students that sign up to the new membership program get the new stuff.

My suspicions were confirmed when I came across a comment from Anik’s former student:

“I know that he has only webinars which he uses to get clients to buy into his schemes. But just as he teaches in his webinars, you become client today and the following week he “upsells” you to a different scheme and if you can’t buy the upsell, he proceeds ahead leaving you stranded if you did not follow him to the upsell program.

If you follow him to the upsell program their  again he takes you to the “backend” program. If you don’t pay for that again, he disapears. Meanwhile he has take a ton of your money. I stopped following him in 2013 when I realized he was not being straightforward. He is the one who instructed Hostzillar to give us five websites each as part of the deal we had bought into when I was following his webinar business.”

The claims in the book are going to set you up for failure – the hard truth

Anik has had great success with affiliate and email marketing. That’s a fact. But claims that you will make $10,000 a month in a matter of weeks are just not typical for someone with new to this business.

It is true that many affiliates do make upwards of millions of dollars each month but it doesn’t happen overnight. While there are people who get into this industry and make a lot of money quickly, it is not true for most people. There are a vast number of ways to make money online and 99% of those methods revolve around content, which does require time and effort to produce.

It is definitely a worthwhile pursuit, but I don’t want you to get into the affiliate marketing world with a “get rich quick” mind-set which sets you up for disappointment.

There is a lot to learn in affiliate marketing and you will never know everything there is to it. You just need to know enough to be successful in this field.

With a “get rich quick” mind-set you are most likely to become overwhelmed at the start with all the things to learn and give up. But if you view this affiliate journey as a step by step journey to learning a new skills (after all an MBA takes more than just a few weeks to complete), where consistent hard work will pay off, you are in a better place to press on when the going gets tough and succeed as an affiliate marketer.

Final thoughts

I hope you hear my heart. I just don’t want you to end up disappointed and out of pocket when there are better options around.

As being successful in a new arena (imagine you had to change careers into a completely different field, how long would it take you to re-train) you will need 3 things:

  • Step by step guidance,
  • On-going help and guidance with people who are successful (more than just 90 days), and
  • Support and encouragement for the journey.

This has been my experience and I have found these three elements with the platform that I have decided to go with for $1 a day. Please feel free to read my complete review here.

I hope you find this review helpful. I wish you every success in your online endeavours. I’ve been there too, having a dream of having the freedom to spend more time with the people I love, doing the things I love.

    Hi Shan,

I really enjoyed this post. It was really funny and really, I mean it, entertaining! That furry thing made smile as well, nice touch!

3,000 – GULP! I do know the feeling of someone just getting you all excited about a venture and making it seem your missing out just to land that massive price tag. Shame really, if such opportunities weren’t so greedy they probably could earn so much more, it just eliminates people who just don’t have that cash, and yes, I’d say it was a little pricy’er than you hoover lol.

    Great Post Shan.

Looking forward to the next one.

    King Regards,

    Philip.

Thank you so much for stopping by Philip and taking the time to read my review. I’m so glad you enjoyed my post 🙂 And I’m glad you like the little furry stressed rat/mouse picture. When I saw it, I totally identified with it – that was me before I decided I needed to make a change and learn how to build a profitable business online.

There will be more for sure! So please stayed tuned 🙂
