The Quick Low Down
Name: Opinion Outpost (US, Canada and the UK), called Opinion World elsewhere.
Owners: Survey Sampling International, LLC
Website URL: www.opinionoutpost.com
Overall Ranking: 4 out of 5
Overall Comments: This is a legitimate way of earning some money on the side if you enjoy filling in surveys. Out of the many survey companies out there, this is one of the most reliable and trusted companies.
The downside is unlike other companies like Swagbucks, you can only make money from filing in surveys. They don’t have other avenues of earning money such a playing games or watching videos.
It’s free to join and you get paid at a better rate than many other survey companies. So if you are looking at an easy way to generate some extra cash this is a great opportunity.
But if you are looking at creating a full-time income with it, then filing in surveys online won’t do it. You will want to try affiliate marketing instead but it does take hard work and time investment.
What is Opinion Outpost?
Opinion Outpost is a free community where members are rewarded for sharing their opinions in various types of paid surveys about new and current topics and products.
Opinion outpost has been around for more than a decade but is only available in the US, Canada and the UK.
In other countries, like in New Zealand where I am, you can still sign up via the Opinion Outpost website above but you will be redirected to your local Opinion World, which is owned by the same company.
So how do you earn money with Opinion Outpost?
Well first you have to sign up – it’s free.
Businesses are always after your feedback as a consumer, and want to know how best to provide for you and others like you. This is why legitimate survey companies allow you to sign up for free because you are especially valuable.
So please, if you come across ads telling you to pay to sign up for survey companies I would be wary about those offers, especially if they promise you will make a full time income while sitting on the couch filling a couple of surveys. That just has scam written all over it.
While online surveys give you an easy way of making a side income, it is definitely not a source of full time income.
The sign up process is also dead easy.
All you have to do is click here and then enter your personal information, such as your name, sex and your email address.
You then have to pop into your email inbox and confirm your email address. After confirming your email address, you’ll be directed back to the website to fill out some member profile surveys.
I would strongly suggest taking 5 minutes to fill out this profile – tell them your birthday, ethnicity, race, and zip code etc. This helps Opinion Outpost to direct you towards surveys that you are more likely to qualify for. This will save YOU heaps of time!
This means that when you do get a survey to do in your email, you have a much higher rate of qualifying. The surveys is also more likely to be on a topic that is of more interest you which makes filing in the survey more fun.
In my experience, I qualified for about 90% of surveys sent to me via email. This is contrast to my qualifying rate of 50-60% before I completed my profile.
I didn’t understand this concept at the start and as an eager beaver, I would try to qualify for all available surveys, and would quickly get annoyed and discouraged as I got told I did not qualify for survey after survey.
What does each survey pay?
Each survey generally pays between 20 and 100 points. When you receive a survey notification, they provide an estimate for the length of time it will take to complete the survey.
I personally find that I take less than the estimated survey completion times. The trick is to select the first option that comes to you.
Try not to overthink your answers and keep moving.
So how much cash in the pocket does that work out to?
Since 100 points in Opinion Outpost converts to $10, it means you make between $2 and $5 for each survey that you take.
In different countries, the number of points can differ but in general two 15 minute surveys = $10. This is the case in New Zealand as well as in the US.
What I like about Opinion Outpost is that the minimum cash out is $10 via paypal, which is one of the lowest around. Unlike, checks in the mail this method of payout is instant.
This is why Opinion Outpost is one of my favorite places because I can cash up quickly and then use the money to subsidize a few of my guilty pleasures like fashion magazines and make up.
You can also choose to get paid out in MileagePlus Award miles and Amazon gift cards. This is good for subsidising your travel plans or gifts.
Opinion Outpost sends about 2 surveys a day, so this can earn you up to about $10 a day if you qualify for both surveys. I personally earn about $10-$15 per week just attempting one or two surveys a day.
The nice thing about Opinion Outpost is that it only takes about a minute to find out whether you qualify for the survey, so you don’t waste much time if it’s not going anywhere.
I’ve also found that after I filled in my profile, the surveys sent to me were targeted toward my interests. I also qualified for nearly all of them – which is unlike a lot of other survey companies where you trawl through lots of questions only to be told you don’t qualify. What a waste of time!
If you don’t qualify for a particular survey, Opinion Outpost will put you in the draw for $10,000 for your efforts. Unfortunately I have yet to win the $10,000 draw but I’m hoping one day I will!
So how much can you earn from Opinion outpost
So at about 2 surveys a day, you earnings potential is about $10 a day at best. This is why I said that it’s a great way to earn some pocket money, but it’s definitely not remotely close to earning a full-time income.
I would recommend signing up for other survey companies as well so you don’t limit yourself to only 2 surveys a day. Here is another favorite survey company of mine that allows you to earn money from watching videos as well as playing games in addition to filing in surveys.
However, if you are looking to make serious money online, Opinion Outpost and filing in online surveys is not for you.
Personally, my favorite way of making money online is to build a website based on what I’m passionate about and love talking about. I simply build a website and talk lots about the topic that I enjoy and when people start visiting my website, I start making money.
I don’t have to fill in survey after survey and can actually make a full-time income from this. Do you want to find out how you can do this too?
